Storms on the Horizon...

The Fourth of July Weekend is off and running and day one certainly didn't disappoint.  Highs today were in the lower 80s inland and 70s at the coast.  There were actually weak seabreezes that developed this afternoon and as they work inland are providing just enough lift for some briefly heavy downpours to form...mostly in SE Mass...they rain themselves out within 5-10 minutes...but 99% of the State was and will stay dry this evening.

Tomorrow will be a different story.  First off, I have lowered high temps a notch based on limited sunshine.  There will likely be some mid and upper level clouds from NY State T-storms that will filter the sun for the first half of the day tomorrow.  Then in the afternoon as highs reach the lower 80s, cumulus will begin to form.  I am expecting a pre-frontal line of t-storms to form early in the afternoon in Western MA and work east through the evening.  These will be slow-moving, soaking thunderstorms with potentially some damaging wind gusts.  There obviously could be issues for some towns and their fireworks tomorrow evening due to these storms.

The front is expected to stall very close to the coast on Monday.  The clouds will thin and several hours of sun will bake us into the upper 80s.  With the front so close, however, I can't completely rule out a storm...most likely similar to what we are seeing this evening...isolated, pop-up convection that fizzles very quickly.  So all in all, we are looking very good for the Fourth itself.
