Storms hit parts of MA, NH

A line of storms that moved through the region raised concerns about tornadoes, and left several communities without power for a time.

It all started when the National Weather Service issued a tornado warning shortly before 7 p.m.

Golf ball size hail was reported in Leominster and a supercell began rotating over north Central Worcester County, which can be an indicator of a developing tornado.

As of late Monday night there were no reports of tornadoes actually touching down.

Several New Hampshire communities have been damaged or have lost power after strong storms.

Residents in Claremont and several other areas are reporting downed trees and power or telephone lines.

As the storms moved east, they weakened, although several areas saw lightning and rain.

An employee of Sylvan Nursery in Dartmouth is recovering from a lightning strike as a powerful thunderstorm blew through the area.
