Stop & Shop Closing Its Stores In New Hampshire
MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) — The company that owns the Stop & Shop supermarket chain says it is closing its six stores and three gas stations in New Hampshire, saying they have not achieved performance goals.
Stop & Shop Supermarket LLC says the stores will close on or before Sept. 21.
The company said it will work with union and local officials to provide job search assistance to workers affected by the closings.
The stores being closed are in Bedford, Hudson, Exeter, Milford, and Manchester.
It's not clear how many jobs are being lost. The company said it employs about 63,000 associates and operates more than 400 stores throughout Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, New York, and New Jersey.
