Stonehill College Student Sexually Assaulted In Dorm Room
EASTON (CBS) - Stonehill College Campus Police and Easton Police are expanding the search for two men who allegedly sexually assaulted a student in a residence hall.
The assault occurred in the early morning hours of November 23. The victim reported it to police the same day. A campus wide alert was sent to students.
"When something like this happens it's concerning not only to the police department but to the whole college community and of course the parents of the students," said Stonehill College Police Chief Peter Carnes.
No one has been arrested in the attack. Police do not know if the men are Stonehill students so Monday they distributed sketches of the two suspects, hoping for help from surrounding communities.
There is no evidence the victim knew her attackers.
The two men were seen hanging out in a residence hall with a group of students the night of the assault. The dorms have key card scanners. It is not known who let the suspects in.
The victim told police she was sexually assaulted in a dorm room.
Since students were alerted to the assault, many have taken additional precautions. They are shocked that such a violent crime could happen on the small suburban campus.
"I'm actually really shocked because it's a small Catholic college," said freshman Taylor Cavanaugh. "I didn't think that would happen here, you know. But it did so it's kind of scary."
