Still Quiet, But Precipitation Is Nearing
It's going to be another calm mid-December day. A weak frontal boundary has resulted in cloud cover overnight as well as a few spotty flurries/sprinkles. The Cape & Islands will continue to have a slim chance of a few raindrops/snowflakes to fall until midday. Skies will be partly cloudy for the bulk of the day with high temperatures between 40-45F.
Thursday is the one day this week that we can't call 'quiet'. Starting early Thursday morning, there will be a slight chance of an icy mix falling across SW New Hampshire and NW Massachusetts as a warm front travels northward. Any icy precipitation that does fall will be short-lived. More rain showers will develop, mainly after the noon hour, as a cold front approaches from the west. The rain will shut off early Thursday night, and the cold front will push east early Friday morning.
Winds will pick-up and temperatures will fall through the 40s on Friday. The sky will provide a mixture of sun and clouds. Northern New England will receive a few more rain/snow showers due to an upper level trough lingering near the area.
This Weekend: Temperatures will be colder as highs never make it out of the 30s. There will be plenty of sunshine this entire weekend though.
Next week, the EURO and GFSx have a disagreement about the track of a low pressure system midweek. Could this mean snow? The GFSx shows that it's a possibility as it depicts a better chance of a Nor'easter-style storm system. Here's how is looks in terms of the latest GFSx model run...
On the flip side, the EURO says 'no' as it is showing a more warmer, more westerly track.
