Still Going...
At noon today, the wind was blowing out of the North at 13 mph with gusts to 22mph at Logan...the temperature was up to 88 degrees and we were on our way to four days in a row of 90 degrees or higher. Moments later, the wind swung around to the SE and the seabreeze took over...temps began their tumble into the upper 70s by the end of the day. That same seabreeze front sparked some isolated shower and thunderstorm activity but much of the action has fallen apart as the sun is now lower in the sky and setting.
Tomorrow, with a surface low to our north and a warmfront not too far from us, clouds will be present in the morning providing some much-needed natural shade for a few hours early on. By the afternoon the sun will be blazing and the surface low will create more of a pressure gradient so that no seabreeze will occur tomorrow and the heat will invade even the beaches. Tomorrow will be the hottest of this stretch with highs reaching the mid 90s in most spots.
The surface low's associated coldfront will work in from the west tomorrow night but it will get hung up leading to another hot and humid day on Wednesday. The front, along with the heat and humidity, will trigger scattered afternoon thunderstorms some of which could be severe with torrential rain, hail and wind. Big boomers will certainly get your attention Wednesday evening but it's what follows them that will keep your attention. The heat and humidity will finally break as the wind swings into the north and fresh air arrives from Canada. Sunshine will be limited for part of Thursday as the front will still be in our coastal waters but the heat and humidity will be diffusing and it will be gone through the upcoming weekend as surface high pressure will build in for highs near 80 and plenty of sunshine...can't wait!
