Stevan Ridley Signs With New York Jets
BOSTON (CBS) - The Patriots lost yet another running back to the Tri-state area.
First it was Shane Vereen signing with the Giants, and now it's Stevan Ridley signing with the Jets.
The former third round pick (2011) confirmed the initial reports on his Instagram account Wednesday night:
Ridley, 26, suffered a season-ending knee injury in early October, just six games into the 2014 season. In his four-year career, he's rushed for 2,817 yards and 22 touchdowns on 649 rushing attempts, averaging 4.3 yards per carry. His best season came in 2012, when he ran for 1,263 yards and 12 touchdowns.
Ridley has played six career games against the Jets, rushing for 269 yards and two touchdowns on 77 carries.
With Vereen and Ridley leaving by way of free agency, and LeGarrette Blount suspended for the first game of the season, the Patriots have a bit of a need in the backfield.
