State Trooper Hit By Accused Drunk Driver After Patriots Game

FOXBORO (CBS) – A State Trooper was hit by an accused drunk driver in Foxboro after the Patriots game late Monday night.

State Police said the trooper was standing on Route 1 south for traffic control outside Gillette Stadium just before midnight when he was hit by a 2012 Jeep Liberty.

"He was ambulatory and alert -- but was in pain -- after being struck and was transported by ambulance to Norwood Hospital for evaluation of his injuries," police said in a statement.

Those injuries were minor and the trooper was later released from the hospital.

His name has not been made public.

The driver, Catherine Williams, 29, of Beverly, was arrested and charged with operating under the influence of alcohol.

She was arraigned Tuesday in Wrentham District Court, where prosecutors said that she failed a field sobriety test and blew twice the legal limit. Williams said she only had one glass of wine at the game.

Williams was released on $1,500 cash bail. A judge ordered her to remain alcohol-free and to submit to random testing.
