State Raises Mosquito Risk Level In Raynham To "Critical"
BOSTON (CBS) – The Department of Public Health has confirmed that a Missouri woman contracted Eastern Equine Encephalitis while visiting Raynham.
She is now the second person to get the disease in Raynham this summer.
The DPH is now raising the town's risk level to "critical", and urging the town to cancel all outdoor events.
An 80-year-old man from Raynham died in early September from EEE.
The DPH has also confirmed that a woman between the ages of 49 and 64 from Essex County was diagnosed with West Nile Virus. She became ill on October 3 and was hospitalized. Her condition has improved and she is expected to be released to a rehab facility soon.
The state is warning all residents that mosquitoes continue to be a threat until the first hard frost.
