State Police Stop Car For Speeding, Find Gun, Mask, Alcohol
BURLINGTON (CBS) -- A traffic stop along Route 3 netted some unusual items Tuesday night.
State Trooper Paul Langone pulled a car over for speeding around 9 p.m. and found alcohol, a black face mask and a semi-automatic weapon inside the car.
The driver, 20-year-old Selina Salafia of Lowell, was issued a summons for driving with a suspended license, speeding and being a minor transporting alcohol.
During a pat frisk of Salafia's passenger, Torrie Tatum, 22, of Boston, Trooper Langone found Tatum was concealing a loaded semi-automatic gun with an obliterated serial number.
Tatum was arrested on multiple gun charges.
Police have not said where Salafia and Tatum were headed or why they had the mask and weapon.
Langone's name may sound familiar. Back in October 2009, he was a security guard at Massachusetts General Hospital and shot a patient who had just stabbed Dr. Astrid Desrosiers. Jay Carciero, who suffered from bipolar disorder, was killed.
