State Police Helicopter Makes Unplanned Landing In Wakefield
WAKEFIELD (CBS) - A State Police helicopter made a precautionary landing on a baseball field in Wakefield Thursday morning after two warning lights came on.
The chopper landed safely on the field behind a Shaw's Supermarket near Water Street off Route 129 around 10:30 a.m.
Two troopers, a pilot, and a tactical flight officer were on the helicopter at the time of the landing.
No one was hurt.
The copter returned to the State Police air base in Lawrence around 2 p.m.
"A mechanical check determined that a small amount of moisture behind the control panel caused two indicator lights in the cockpit to illuminate. There was NO mechanical problem with the aircraft," State Police said in a statement.
