State Police Find Lost Hiker Using Cell Phone And The Moon
FREETOWN (CBS) - The 25-year-old Fall River woman who was lost in the Freetown State Forest Monday is getting a lot of praise from the State Troopers who helped rescue her.
"She didn't panic, and did exactly as we told her," said Trooper Mark Costa, who was on board the state Police Helicopter that located Rebecca Campion.
Campion went hiking Monday evening, and apparently became lost two miles from the nearest road.

She used her cell phone to call police, but local police officers searching on the ground couldn't find her.
They called in the State Police Air Wing. Troopers Rick Boulos and Mark Costa were in the helicopter as night fell, then called Campion when they got near the forest.
Instead of using hi-tech GPS or other devices, the troopers used the moon to find her.
"When she answered, I told her to face the moon, then tell us where the sound of the helicopter was," said Trooper Rick Boulos. "And she said the helo was in back of her... so we turned directly toward the moon."

Wearing night vision goggles, the troopers spotted Campion's cell phone.
"That little light from the cell phone is enough to find someone," said Trooper Costa.
The troopers put the helicopter's powerful light on her, and led the other officers, who were on foot, to the missing woman.
