Springfield Man Faces Vehicular Homicide Charges In Fatal Holyoke Crash
HOLYOKE (AP) — A Springfield man faces vehicular homicide charges after police say he ran a red light and struck another vehicle, killing two people and injuring two others.
The Republican of Springfield reported 21-year-old Jonathan Lopez was arrested Sunday morning, hours after he fled the scene of the early morning crash.
Investigators did not identify the victims, though they said the deceased were a man and a woman, both 23 years old. The two injured motorists were hospitalized in stable condition.
Holyoke Police Lt. Jim Albert said Lopez and a passenger fled the crash scene on foot before emergency crews arrived.
Lopez is scheduled to be arraigned Monday. It is not clear whether he has an attorney.
