Springfield Man Arrested After Fleeing Harvard Traffic Stop

HARVARD (CBS) – A Springfield man faces a variety of charges after fleeing from a traffic stop in Harvard.

Dominic May, 20, was initially stopped for speeding on Interstate 495 North in Harvard at about 1 a.m. on Friday.

Massachusetts State Police said the driver came to a stop, but while the trooper was speaking to May, he drove away.

Police followed May in his 1998 Nissan Altima as he traveled north on I-495 into Littleton before changing directions onto the southbound side of the road and eventually onto Interstate 290 West.

Near Exit 7 on I-290, police deployed a spike strip and brought May's vehicle to a top. He was then arrested without incident.

When searching his car, police found an ammunition feeding device with 10 rounds for a .22-caliber gun.

May was arrested and charged with failure to stop for police, speeding, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, person under 21 years old in possession of alcohol, possession of ammunition without an FID cart, and operating under the influence of drugs.

No one was hurt in the incident and May is expected to be arraigned Friday in Clinton District Court.
