Special Needs Van Driver Charged With OUI In Newton Crash, 13 Hurt
NEWTON (CBS) – Thirteen people were hurt when a van carrying special needs adults rear-ended a garbage truck in West Newton Monday morning.
It happened around 9:15 a.m. at the corner of Highland Street and Lockwood Road.
Ten of the injured were taken to Newton-Wellesley Hospital. Three others went to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.

Newton Police Lieutenant Bruce Apotheker told WBZ NewsRadio 1030 none of the injuries were life-threatening.
One victim was trapped and had to be rescued with the Jaws of Life.
It's not clear yet what caused the accident.
The driver, 51-year-old Addis Gabriel Woldeguiorguis of Dorchester, at first reportedly said he was blinded by the sun.
He was later was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of drugs.
