Spaziani Gushes About Former BC Players In Patriots-Giants Super Bowl

BOSTON (CBS) - Boston College may not be known as a perennial contender for a national championship, but the football program has churned out quality players year after year. As a result, six former Eagles fill the rosters of the Patriots and Giants heading into Super Bowl XLVI.

Spaziani talks to WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Drew Moholland:

It all leaves current BC head coach Frank Spaziani a little conflicted when it comes to rooting for one team over the other in Sunday's game.

"Well, what's the math? Two-thirds and one-third?" Spaziani said, referring to the four players on New York's roster and two players on New England's roster. "We'll spend two-third of the game rooting for the team with four, and a third of the game rooting for the team with two players.

"We'll see who has the winning score in the end," Spaziani added. "We can't lose!"

Spaziani talked at length about how impressed he has been with Dan Koppen, Ron Brace, Chris Snee, Will Blackmon, Mathias Kiwanuka and Mark Herzlich.

"You just can't tell the kid 'no,'" Spaziani said of Herzlich. "If he [is active], I wouldn't be surprised if he's the most valuable player."
