Sox Trade Ramon Ramirez, Acquire Saltalamacchia
The MLB Trade Deadline has passed. The Red Sox made a pair of minor moves. RP Ramon Ramirez has been sent to the San Francisco Giants in exchange for Daniel Turpen. Ramirez made 44 appearances for Boston this season, tossing 44.1 innings posting an 0-3 record and 4.46 ERA.
The Sox picked up C Jarrod Saltalamacchia from the Texas Rangers for 2 minor leaguers (1B Chris McGuiness & P Roman Mendez), a player to be named later, and cash. Saltalamacchia has spent nearly the entire season in the minors, he is just 1-5 in the majors this season. The 25-year-old switch hitter has 23 career home runs.
