South Shore Residents Ready For Potential Nor'easter
SCITUATE (CBS) - With a potentially historic snowstorm on the horizon, South Shore residents are preparing for the inclement weather.
Like many of his neighbors, Scituate resident Bob Egan spent part of his Sunday afternoon putting plywood on his windows in anticipation of the storm, which could drop a few feet of snow across Massachusetts starting Monday night.
"I don't close up the windows unless I'm pretty sure something is coming," Egan told WBZ-TV's Julie Loncich.
Egan's home has been in his family since 1956 and has seen its share of storms over the years but he's not overly concerned about the one coming this week.
"...I don't think we have a very high, astronomical tide so even with some wind, there will be some splash over but I don't think the house is going to get hit," he told WBZ.
Along Turner Road, residents readied for the storm by boarding up their homes, packing up their vehicles and putting away loose items.
"We're in a good spot," said Liz Ennis. "Our house was built in 1930 and I guess it's where they were thinking about putting the lighthouse back when so it juts in such a way that we get to see the waves break all around us."
Susan James, of Scituate, said that she can deal with snow but losing electricity is her biggest concern.
