Sources: Stephen Rakes' Body Was Moved After He Died
BOSTON (CBS) – Sources tell WBZ-TV that Stephen Rakes' body was moved after he died last week.
Rakes, the former South Boston liquor store owner who claimed James "Whitey" Bulger muscled him out of business years ago, was found dead Wednesday along a walking trail in the area of Mill Street in Lincoln.
Rakes' car was found in the parking lot of a McDonald's in Waltham.
Sources say Rakes had no identification on him, and there were no obvious signs of trauma. Police are still waiting for the results of toxicology tests.
Rakes, 59, of Quincy, had been attending Bulger's trial at U.S. District Court in South Boston and was at one point expected to be a prosecution witness.
Prosecutors denied Rakes the opportunity to testify.
