Julian Edelman Suffers Broken Foot, Placed On Seasn-Ending IR
BOSTON (CBS) -- The 2012 season is over for Julian Edelman.
The receiver suffered an injury Sunday in Miami, and sources told WBZ-TV's Dan Roche that Edelman suffered a broken foot. The injury will require surgery and as a result, Edelman was placed on injured reserve on Tuesday afternoon, thereby ending his season.
Edelman, 26, has 21 receptions for 235 yards and three touchdowns this season, and he's also second in the NFL with a 15.5-yard average on punt returns. He also has four rushes for 45 yards.
Edelman suffered the injury during Sunday's win over Miami, and he was seen leaving the locker room on crutches and wearing a walking boot.
The team signed Donte Stallworth on Monday evening to help fill the void left by Edelman.
