X-Rays Negative, Youkilis Day-To-Day With Sore Foot
BOSTON (CBS) - Red Sox third baseman Kevin Youkilis is out of the lineup Thursday after being hit on the top of the foot with a foul ball in Wednesday night's 2-1 loss in Philadelphia.
"He's sore," manager Terry Francona said Thursday morning. "He got hit on top of the foot. It was grabbing at him all night."
Youkilis fouled a pitch off his left foot in his second at bat Wednesday night. He had precautionary X-Rays done Thursday morning which came back negative, according to WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Jonny Miller.
"We're going to get him looked at as soon as we can," said Francona. "We just want to eliminate everything which I think is probably the responsible thing to do."
Youkilis remained in the game and drew a walk in the at-bat. He finished the night 0-for-3.
Drew Sutton will take his spot at third and bat seventh in the lineup.
