Final Storm Of 2012 Leaves Several Inches Of Snow Across Southern New England
BOSTON (CBS) - The final storm of 2012 left its mark across southern New England Saturday night into Sunday with about a foot of snow in some towns.
It was the first significant snow storm to hit the region since February 2011.

Several inches fell in Boston, which declared a parking ban so plows could clear the streets overnight.
A Winter Storm Warning remained in effect for most of the region until 7 a.m. Sunday.

Communities west of Boston were hit the hardest in Massachusetts, with nearly 10 inches falling in Shrewsbury and 8 inches in Hopkinton.
Snow fell at a rate of 1-to-2 inches per hour at some points during the storm, creating very difficult driving conditions.
Most towns away from the coast picked up 6-to-8 inches. There was a little less, 3-6 inches, in northern New England and a little more in interior southeastern Massachusetts.
Along the coast, including the North Shore, South Shore, and Cape and Islands, amounts were held down quite a bit from the rain and the snow that did accumulate was heavy and wet. The snow that fell north and west of Boston was light and fluffy.
In the wake of the storm expect clearing skies Sunday but an icy, gusty wind creating wind chills in the single digits and teens through the day.
