Snow Is On The Horizon

The chill is still in the air!  The cold air will continue to invade New England thru the work week. Highs today will be in the lower to middle 30s while the coldest day is expected to be Thursday with the mercury hovering near 30F.  A few flurries from time to time are not out of the question thru Wednesday, but the majority of Southern New England will be partly sunny.

There's snow in the forecast from Friday evening thru early Saturday morning from an 'Alberta Clipper'. These systems tend to lack significant moisture. Consequently, the majority of the area will receive a light 1"-2"  total.  There will be a chance of rain/snow near the coast due to the moderating effects of the ocean this time of year.

The next storm system is much larger and stronger.  We are watching this closely.  This low pressure system  will be jetting out of our southwest.  The models continue to show enough warm air advection for this to be a rainy and windy scenario. However, there's still time for the models to change the track which could turn this into a much snowier outcome. Regardless, I think the onset of precipitation may start off with a wintry mix in the interior locations before changing over to all rain.

Stay Warm!

Melissa :)
