2 Hurt In Small Plane Crash In Fitchburg
FITCHBURG (CBS/AP) – Two people were hurt when a small plane crashed in Fitchburg Wednesday morning.
The single-engine Cessna 150 went down about a half-mile northwest of Fitchburg Municipal Airport around 9:30 a.m.
The pilot, Eli Luria, told the Associated Press he lost power shortly after takeoff and had to make an emergency landing because he couldn't maintain altitude.
The plane's tail snapped off in the crash.
Luria said he was piloting the single-engine plane during a lesson. The plane is owned by his company, Tenle Aviation Inc., which is based in nearby Stow.
Luria and his passenger were taken to the hospital, but Luria answered the phone at Tenle about two hours after the crash.
Neither he nor authorities disclosed the passenger's name.
On his website, Luria said he started the company in December 2010.
