Small Plane Crash In Provincetown Under Investigation

PROVINCETOWN (AP) — State police and federal aviation officials are investigating why a small plane bound for Provincetown Municipal Airport landed in a marsh short of the runway. None of the three people aboard was injured.

Provincetown police say they received a report at about 10 p.m. Saturday of a plane crash about a mile west of the runway. Police say the single-engine 1974 Piper Warrior somehow missed the runway.

Police didn't release the names of the people on the plane or where the flight originated. The people aboard walked away from the scene after being evaluated by paramedics.

The Cape Cod Times reported the airport was closed until further notice after the accident but reopened Sunday.

The Federal Aviation Administration will be investigating, along with state police and airport officials.
