Small Earthquake Shakes New Bedford
NEW BEDFORD (CBS) ---A small earthquake was reported near New Bedford, Thursday morning.
Dr. John Ebel of the Weston Observatory confirmed the 1.9 magnitude quake occurred around 10:52 a.m., seven miles north-northwest of New Bedford.
Ebel says it was a "very small event. Well below the threshold for damage."
According to Ebel, residents close to it could have heard a boom or felt a shake for two-to-three seconds.
Massachusetts Emergency Management says no damage or injuries were reported.
