Slowly Drying Out...

A coldfront is slowing down as it moves through the Northeast...we still have some wet weather and showers will continue through the first half of the night.  The air will gradually dry out as lower dewpoints work in from the west by morning wholes in the overcast will be seen.

We will finally get back into a little bit of sun tomorrow but with very cold air aloft any sun will work against us and manufacture clouds that will eventually dominate.  Some of those clouds will have depth to them and scattered showers will develop in the afternoon.  The showers and clouds will slowly melt away tomorrow night with the loss of daylight.  Tomorrow will be noticeably cooler...by about 10 degrees...highs in the mid 50s.

Going into the weekend, a surface low will slide south of New England but it's associated upper level support will pass over us.  This means an unstable airmass for the weekend.  It's not all bad though, there will be plenty of sun in the mornings with building cumulus clouds in the afternoons.  I expect to see some good towers out there Saturday afternoon leading to several showers maybe even some low-top thunderstorms Saturday afternoon...if we get them small hail may come out of their cores.

A similar scenario is expected on Mother's Day...but with perhaps a slightly more stable airmass and therefore less shower activity in the afternoon.  Highs over the weekend will be in the mid to upper 60s.
