Ski Report For Week Ending January 28
BOSTON (CBS) – Skiers get a break from the deep powder conditions they have seen in recent weekends, with just enough new snow from this week to keep it soft, while machine groomed packed powder conditions will make for many fast runs down the hill.
Sugarloaf's new wooded extension, baptized the "Brackett Basin", is open, complete with cliff drops and challenging skiing for the explorer in you.
Mt. Abram celebrates their 50th anniversary, and over at Attitash, look for the "U Go Girl" giant slalom.
All will enjoy a weekend with 100% of their trails open for skiing, with a base of snow reaching 2-4 feet deep.
Vermont has seen 3-6 inches of new snow this week with hard-packed powder on the blues and big bumps on the blacks.
The ski bowl at Stratton is wide open for afternoon thrills. Bromley Mountain honors veterans wounded in action with their 6th annual Wounded Warrior Weekend.
Once again, Southern New England gets the heaviest snow, with 6-10 inches of new snow this week.
Wachusett continues to have the deepest base of snow in New England, up to 6 feet deep in spots! Today's ski tip: keep your legs limber!
Luckily, the weekend weather looks calmer than the stormy week- clouds and the chance of snow showers Saturday, highs in the mid-20's, cooler Sunday with partly sunny skies.
