Six Charged With Stealing $38,000 Of Copper From Mass. Wind Turbine
FLORIDA, Mass. (CBS) - Six people are facing charges after State Troopers say they stole $38,000-worth of copper wire stolen from a wind turbine in Florida, Massachusetts.
Troopers say the suspects dug a tunnel under a security fence surrounding the Florida Mountain Windmill Farm Project in order to gain access.
State and Pittsfield police managed to track down the six suspects after they allegedly tried to sell the stolen cooper wire to local scrap metal yards.
Questioning led officers to a hotel room where they found stripped wire outer cover, wire cutting tools, and drug paraphernalia.
The six people facing charges are:
Eli Waters, 33, of Pittsfield
1. Receive Stolen Property Over $250 - 7 counts
2. Malicious Destruction of Property - 3 counts
3. Knowingly Being Present Where Heroin is kept
4. Trespass
Gina Arnold, 32, of Pittsfield
1. Receive Stolen Property Over $250 -2 counts
2. Malicious Destruction of Property- 3 counts
3. Knowingly Being Present Where Heroin is kept
4. Trespass
Dylan Greiter, 24, of Northampton
1. Receive Stolen Property Over $250 -2 counts
2. Malicious Destruction of Property – 3counts

4. Knowingly Being Present Where Heroin is kept
Jamene Hinckley-Morrison, 32, of Pittsfield
1. Receive Stolen Property Over $250 – 3 counts
