Singer Battles Cancer, Helps Others
BROOKLINE (CBS) -- A Brookline cabaret singer is hoping that her battle with lung cancer will inspire and help other patients.
Hildy Grossman has been singing professionally for the past 20 years.
She was diagnosed with lung cancer four years ago. Fortunately for Hildy, her tumors were discovered in the earliest stages. So she didn't need to have chemo and is still able to sing.
Hildy says, "I was so happy because I didn't want to lose that part of my life."
She's now created a non-profit organization called Upstage Lung Cancer.
It uses music to help raise awareness about lung cancer and money for research.
Hildy explains, "My hope is in some small way to fund research on dearly detection."
Hildy's organization is holding its second annual fundraising concert and auction at the Boston Center for the Arts on Monday, November 15.
