SI Poll: Players Want To Play Under Doc Rivers

BOSTON (CBS) - Doc Rivers is a very popular coach.

We've heard it from his players, and now the rest of the NBA is showing the love to the Celtics' head coach.

Sports Illustrated recently asked players which coach they would like to play for the most, and 22-percent of the 134 polled said they would want Rivers on the sideline.

Rivers is in his 13th season as a head coach in the NBA with a 543-431 record with the Orlando Magic and Celtics. He was the 2000 Coach of the Year,  his rookie season as a head coach, and has led his teams to a 51-44 record in the playoffs.

Former Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni came in second with 21-percent (despite currently being unemployed), followed by Greg Popovich of the Spurs with 16-percent.

On the flip side, players were also asked which coach they would least like to play for. The Orlando Magic's Stan Van Gundy led that vote with 22-percent.

What's more  impressive is that Doc did not receive a single "least" vote.

This should make team president Danny Ainge happy, as the Celtics will be actively trying to lure marquee free agents to Boston this off-season.
