Shrewsbury Teen Killed In Morning Car Crash

SHREWSBURY (CBS) -- A Shrewsbury High School junior was killed in a car accident on his way to school Tuesday.

Andy Reese, 16, was killed after his car veered off the roadway and hit a tree around 6 a.m. Tuesday morning. Reese was the only person in the car at the time of the crash.

Reese was rushed to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, where he was pronounced dead.

"He was a personable and charismatic young man who touched the lives of a wide variety of people," principal Brian Reagan said in a letter to parents. "A quiet leader, Andy was someone who his peers looked up to and cared for deeply. Our thoughts, prayers, and condolences go out to the Reese family at this very difficult time."

At the high school Tuesday, students wrote messages to Andy and his family on large memory boards. Grief counselors were on hand.  A holiday concert scheduled for Tuesday night was postponed until December 13.
