One Dead After 'Gun Battle' At Milford Holiday Inn

MILFORD (CBS) – One man is dead and another is seriously injured after a shooting at a Milford hotel.

The shooting was reported after 10 a.m. on Saturday at the Holiday Inn Express on Fortune Blvd.

WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Kim Tunnicliffe reported that the two men were seriously injured when a "gun battle" erupted in the back parking lot. Sources told Tunnicliffe that police are investigating whether the Valentine's Day shooting was fueled by a romantic conflict.

The Worcester County DA would only say the incident was "an apparent act of domestic violence."

Milford Deputy Police Chief James Heron said police recovered two guns from the scene.

Crime scene tape surrounded two vehicles in the parking lot that were left with their doors open.

One man was found injured in the parking lot while another made his way to the hotel lobby.

Both were transported to Milford Regional Medical Center by ambulance.

"We don't usually get serious incidents of this nature. It's a pretty safe town and this appears to be an isolated incident," said Heron.
