Suspect Shot By Lowell Officer During Armed Home Invasion, Police Say
LOWELL (CBS) -- One of two suspects was shot by a Lowell officer Saturday night during an armed home invasion, police say.
Police were called to a Pine Hill Street home at 8:17 p.m. after receiving a report of the home invasion. Multiple armed suspects were seen entering the house, police say.
The first responding officer was confronted by a man holding a large handgun while standing in the doorway of the house, and the officer fired several times and hit him twice, police said.
The man was conscious and alert when he was treated at the scene, police say, and he was taken by medical helicopter to a Boston hospital. His current condition is unknown.
Another suspect ran out the back of the home, and he was taken into custody a few blocks away, police say. The man also was hurt when he tried to escape and was taken to Lowell General Hospital. His current condition is unknown.

Two people inside the home were allegedly assaulted by the suspects. They were taken to the hospital after suffering non-life-threatening injuries.
