Several New England Students Win Rhodes Scholar Honors
HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — More than a dozen students at New England universities or with roots in the region are among 32 new Rhodes Scholars.
The awards announced Sunday earn them scholarships to study at Oxford University in England. They will join an international group of scholars next fall from 14 jurisdictions around the world.
The New England students' interests range from international relations to cultural and medical anthropology.
They attend or recently graduated from Harvard, Yale, Brown or the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Several also attend schools outside of New England, but come from hometowns in Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
The New England Rhodes Scholars also include musicians, a budding archaeologist, a former competitor in the World Youth Chess Olympics and a special adviser to the Secretary of State for global youth issues.
