Settling In...

Day one of the rainy pattern is in the books...now we just have to get through about seven more!  Today's showers amounted to about .25 inches with some locally higher amounts in the Merrimack Valley thanks to this evenings localized downpours.  Beginning late tomorrow, the downpours won't be so localized as a ribbon of heavy showers works up from the SE US and impacts Southern New England through Saturday morning.  During this time amounts will likely range from 1-3" and this has prompted the NWS to issue a Flood Watch through Saturday evening.  Our rivers and streams should hold that water but there will likely be some poor drainage flooding on streets and in some parking lots.  The ribbon of rain should shift just offshore by Saturday afternoon and stay offshore for Sunday too...this obviously bodes well for the second half of the weekend.  While sunshine will be limited, the rain will be too and we salvage part of the weekend!

Sunday's break in the rainfall will only be temporary, the cut-off low to our west and the circulation partially responsible for the influx of tropical moisture here in the Northeast will slowly slide overhead through the middle of next week.  This will lead to more unsettled conditions through the majority of next week too.
