Sequestration Cuts Affecting Our Children
May 25, 2013
Sequestration cuts are causing havoc on programs which help our children across the nation. More than 70,000 children from poor families are being eliminated from the gold-standard Head Start program, which was created in 1964 to help break the cycle of poverty, providing low income children ages 3-5 and their families with a vehicle to better their lives. Here in Boston, sequestration cuts will cause 200 - 300 low income children to be cut from the program this fall. On this edition of Centro, we'll you what's happening with the Boston Head Start program. WBZ's Yadires Nova-Salcedo talks with ABCD's Director of Head Start & Children's Services, Yvette Rodriguez.
