Sen. Brown to visit RI on same day as Obama
The Republican who succeeded the late Sen. Edward Kennedy in the Senate is heading to Rhode Island to campaign for the Republican who hopes to succeed Kennedy's son in Congress.
Congressional candidate John Loughlin's campaign says Massachusetts Sen. Scott Brown will fundraise and campaign with him on Oct. 25, the same day President Obama is coming for a fundraiser with Democratic Congressional candidate David Cicilline.
Cicilline, the mayor of Providence, and Loughlin, a state representative, are vying to succeed Patrick Kennedy, who decided not to run for a ninth term after his father's death last year.
Loughlin adviser Eric Fehrnstrom says Loughlin and Brown both represent a break from the politics of the past.
He says details of Brown's visit, such as where he will campaign, are still being worked out.
