Selig Sets Deadline For Theo Compensation
BOSTON (CBS) - The Boston Red Sox and Chicago Cubs now have a deadline to agree on compensation for Theo Epstein, or commissioner Bud Selig will step in.
"They have until Nov. 1 -- Theo and Ben and all the other parties involved," said Selig, according to 98.5 The Sports Hub's insider Sean McAdam of Comcast Sports Net. "Hopefully they can get things done. I always encourage clubs to try to get things done between themselves. Somehow, the commissioner has enough things of controversy [to deal with].

"They'll either get it done or they won't. If they don't, then I will," said Selig.
The two sides have been working on a deal for nearly two weeks, but have not come to an agreement on what the Red Sox will receive in return for Epstein, who had one year remaining on his contract with Boston.

Epstein will be introduced as the Cubs' president on Tuesday, with Boston introducing Ben Cherington as their new GM.
The two are expected to work out a deal together, but no talks are scheduled until after they are introduced.
