Seidenberg, Bruins Donate $30K To MSPCA
BOSTON (CBS) -- Hockey players are some of the toughest humans on the planet, but even they become a bunch of softies when it comes to helping puppies.
Boston Bruins defenseman Dennis Seidenberg, who almost pulled off a Herculean comeback from an ACL injury this postseason, is one of those softies. He and Bob Sweeney, director of the Boston Bruins Foundation, were at the MSPCA in Boston on Thursday to present a $30,000 check to the organization, one of the largest single donations to the MSPCA's adoption centers this year.
The funds were raised by the team's "Pucks and Pups" 2014 calendar, which featured the players and management posing with their pooches. For those that did not have dogs of their own, they took pictures with some new friends at the MSPCA who are waiting for homes.
The $30,000 donation will go directly to the MSPCA's adoption services program to care for homeless animals awaiting adoption. Seidenberg received a tour of the facilities after presenting the check, and couldn't be happier to help these animals in need.
"If you see all the animals in here they're all well-taken of, but they're all looking for homes," he said. "It's a great cause to support, and it was nice to come here and see all the animals."

Seidenberg has two dogs at home: a boxer named Wiggles and French Bulldog named Bubbles Lollipop. After you get over picturing a defensive powerhouse like Seidenberg owning dogs named Wiggles and Bubbles Lollipop, take a look at his photo from the calendar:
"It was easy. You take your dog for a walk and get your picture taken, basically," Seidenberg said of the shoot. "It was for a great cause so it was even better. We all had a lot of fun. Hopefully it goes a long way."
