FBI: Cell Phone Activity On Missing Girl's Phone Around Time She Went Missing
NORTH CONWAY, N.H. (CBS) --- The FBI says there was activity on the cell phone of the missing NH teen around the time she went missing, but would not provide any details about that activity.
Police and other law enforcement officials urged the public on Monday to continue providing tips and other information in the search for missing local teenager Abigail Hernandez.
The 15-year-old left Kennett High School around 2:30 Wednesday afternoon and the police believe she made it home. But when her mother arrived at their house, the girl was gone. Abigail's sister Sarah spoke at a Monday evening press conference, pleading for her safe return. "Abby we really miss you," Sarah said. "We need to know you are safe. Please come home. If you know where Abby is please keep her safe and let her come back to us."
Law enforcement officials continue to treat the case as a missing person investigation.
The Union Leader is reporting the final call on Hernandez's phone was made in the vicinity of Cranmore Mountain Resort, a little more than two miles from where she lived. "I know her family," said Ben Wilcox, president of Cranmore Mountain Resort and a parent at Abigail's high school. "They are great people. We are really hoping that she can come home safely wherever she is."
The call was made four hours after the last sighting, officials said.
On Monday, more police K-9 units were brought in to help in the search.
"They're looking for any human scent," said Donna Larson of New England K-9. "They'll find things in rubble, they can find things under water, under snow, any condition that you can name."
