Search For Missing Grad Student Enters 6th Day
BOSTON (CBS) – For a brief period of time Monday, there was a feeling that the mystery of a missing graduate student may have been tragically solved.
It was not the case though.
Jonathan Dailey, a 23-year-old Boston Architectural College student, has not been seen or heard from since last Tuesday night when he left his apartment in Allston.
As the search for him entered a sixth day Monday morning, a body was pulled from the Charles River near the Boston University boathouse.
Dailey's roommate Miles Smith has been keeping vigil with Dailey's parents, who have come to town from North Carolina.
They got a call about the body in the Charles, but they were told by authorities that it was not Jonathan.
"We saw a call from a detective and the immediate reaction is that 'This is something hopeful.' And then he prefaced it very well in saying that 'This is not something for you to be alarmed about,'" Smith told WBZ-TV.
"At some point, all there is to do is wait."
Friends and relatives said Dailey has no history of mental illness, no history of drugs or alcohol, and he did not have a girlfriend.
