Scott Brown To Give $10,000 In Donations From Framingham Pharmacy To Charity
BOSTON (AP) — Republican U.S. Sen. Scott Brown says he'll donate to charity about $10,000 in campaign donations he received from executives at the Massachusetts compounding pharmacy suspected in a deadly outbreak of fungal meningitis.
Federal Election Commission reports show Gregory Conigliaro, a founder of the New England Compounding Center, donated $2,500 to Brown in June.
Campaign officials say Conigliaro also held a fundraiser at his Southborough home in September.
Brown plans to donate the $10,000 to the Meningitis Foundation of America.
Officials have identified the Framingham based-firm as the source of steroid shots suspected in the fungal meningitis outbreak that has killed at least 12 people and made more than 130 others sick in 10 states.
The fundraiser was held before the company was linked to the outbreak.
Brown is running for re-election against Democrat Elizabeth Warren.
