Scituate Hockey Player Won't Face Charges Over Body Check
PLYMOUTH (CBS) – A high school hockey player whose body check injured another player during a game will not be criminally charged.
A clerk magistrate ruled on Friday that there is not enough evidence to warrant charges against Alex Way of Scituate.
Way knocked out Tucker Hannon from Duxbury during a game in January. Hannon suffered a serious concussion.
In the days after the hit, Hannon's parents say they called Scituate High School several times, wanting to know if Alex Way would be disciplined, but their calls were ignored.
Eventually, they decided to file a complaint to press charges.
In court on Friday, Way said he was sorry.
"I'm sorry it got to this point," said Way, "and I'm sorry that Tucker sufferred a concussion. I apologized to him. He's a nice kid".

Hannon accepted the apology and seemed relieved that it was all over. "None of this should've happened, he said. "The coaches could've stopped it a long time ago. I accepted his(Way's) apology and I felt it was sincere. But it never should've gone to court."
