Scituate Girl Gets To School In Boat After Flooding

SCITUATE (CBS) -- After Monday's storm brought flooding and road closures to the South Shore this week, a 10-year-old Scituate student had an out-of-the-ordinary commute.

Leonie Kelly took a boat to school after flood waters surrounded her house on 10th Avenue.

With the road completely flooded out on Tuesday morning, Leonie's mother Audrey Kelly told WBZ-TV that her husband Owen had to tow their daughter about 100 feet to dry land.

From there, a friend was able to drive Leonie to school. Owen Kelly had to return to the pickup spot Tuesday evening to bring her home.

There would be no school for Leonie on Wednesday, though--Audrey Kelly said the water had frozen, leaving the family trapped inside for the day.
