Motorcyclist Killed In Crash With School Bus In Westford

WESTFORD (CBS) - A motorcyclist was killed in a crash with a school bus in Westford Thursday afternoon. The crash happened near the Blanchard Middle School on West Street.

The victim has been identified as 20-year-old Steven Welch.

No one on the school bus, which was transporting Acton-Boxboro middle school athletes, was injured.

The crash is under investigation by State Police and Westford Police.

"We are deeply saddened by this news and our hearts go out to the family of the motorcyclist and the Westford community," Acton-Boxboro Superintendent of Schools Peter Light said.

Counselors are being made available to students and staff members who were on the bus.

The bus driver has been placed on leave while the crash is investigated.
