Scholarships Presented In Honor Of Boston Marathon Victim
BOSTON (AP) — A ceremony is being held at the University of Massachusetts-Boston to announce the first two recipients of a scholarship named for one of the victims of the Boston Marathon bombing.
The Krystle Campbell Scholarship will be awarded on campus Monday by trustee and scholarship co-founder Richard Campbell as well as paralympian and two-time Boston Marathon wheelchair champion Cheri Blauwet.
Richard Campbell is not related to Krystle, but like her, grew up in Medford and attended UMass.
The scholarship will be presented to students pursuing business degrees.
Krystle was one of three people killed in the April 15, 2013, blasts. She was at the finish line to watch her friend's boyfriend complete the race.
Campbell, a restaurant manager, attended UMass-Boston from 2005 to 2007 and received a degree posthumously.
