Savard to miss start of Bruins' camp
The Boston Bruins have started training camp on a cautious note. The team announced that Marc Savard would not be working out for the time being, suffering from post-concussion syndrome.Savard suffered the concussion back in early March when he was hit from behind by the Pittsburgh Penguins' Matt Cooke during a game at The Garden. Savard returned to the ice some two months later, playing against Philadelphia in the Eastern Conference semi-finals. Savard is in Boston and has spoken to team officials and the Bruins' medical staff and for now he's listed as day to day.
Savard had been working out with a personal trainer over the summer but has not trained for several weeks because of his condition. For now the Bruins' top draft pick, Tyler Seguin, will move from wing to center to take Savard's place.
