90-Year-Old Man Beaten, Carjacked In Saugus

SAUGUS (CBS) – Saugus police are looking for help tracking down the person who carjacked a 90-year-old man Tuesday.

The elderly man was at the Stop & Shop supermarket on Main Street around 8 a.m. when he said a man attacked him, stole his car, and left him bleeding on the sidewalk.

"He came over and ripped the key out of my hand and he pushed me over the carriages and then he drove off with my car," carjacking victim Bob Burns told WBZ-TV.

Burns sustained a cut on his right hand.

The attacker is described as white, about 5-feet 7-inches tall with dark hair. He was wearing long pants.

The man drove off in the victim's 2001 Ford Focus. The car is brown with Massachusetts license plate 868 NHV.

"The victim declined transportation to the hospital and instead, a Saugus Police Officer drove him to a relative's house," police said in a statement.

Investigators are looking over surveillance video from the scene.

Anybody with information should call Saugus Police at 781-941-1199 or the anonymous tip line at 781-231-4037.
