Saugus Family Furious At How School Handled Girl's Broken Arm
SAUGUS (CBS) – The family of a Saugus girl who fell and broke her arm at recess is furious at the way that the incident was handled.

Nine-year-old Ally Deon was playing on the monkey bars at the Veterans Elementary School Tuesday when she slipped and fell about five-to-six feet to the ground.
Her mother Jen was called and when she arrived at the school, she saw Ally screaming in agony.
The nurse told her to take Ally to the hospital, but the Deons say this was such a serious incident they don't know why nobody called 911 first.
At the emergency room an X-ray showed two breaks and a dislocation.
Jen Deon said the doctor told her, "It's a very bad break, she's in a lot of pain. We can't set it here, we have to send her to (Boston) Children's (Hospital)."
"There's a lot of issues," she told WBZ NewsRadio 1030 Thursday.
"Number one, the safety issue. Number two, how they handle an emergency situation and number three, then the follow-up of the handling of it."
Deon is upset that the playground, which was closed to recess for ten years for safety issues, has been re-opened.
"I want that playground closed back down again," she said. "They knew in the past it was dangerous."
Saugus Schools Superintendent Richard Langlois released this statement Thursday afternoon:
School officials and medical staff responded expeditiously and effectively given the nature of the injury. Parents were informed immediately. The medical staff is fully qualified to make appropriate assessment and recommendation for treatment in such instances, and did so accordingly. The school is empathic toward this situation and looks forward to working with the family in transitioning the child back to school successfully.
